Tong Tong is an enthusiastic musician and flutist. After receiving her undergraduate degree from Stony Brook University she went on to study with many great flutists around the world, including Denis Bouriakov (principal flute, Los Angeles Philharmonic), Alena Walentin (professor at Royal Conservatoire The Hague, Netherlands, Royal Danish Academy of music, Denmark), and Zart-Dombourian Eby (piccolo, Seattle Symphony), Ray Furuta (San Jose University).
She performed in universities and communities around the Bay Area. Pre-pandemic, she performed as part of the San Jose State Woodwind Quintet at San Jose University, Santa Clara University, and was a soloist at multiple Music at Noon series, she also freelanced with the Santa Cruz University orchestra and played many community benefit concerts. During the pandemic, she completed two semesters of the Invested Musicians program with Andrew Bain (principal Horn, LA Phil).
Other influences include Magali Mosnier (principal flute, France Radio Symphony Orchestra), Gilbert Kalish (a World renowned pianist) and Carol Wincenc (professor at Julliard) for whom she performed many masterclasses.
