Joshua Hayashi-Doyon is an experienced woodwind instructor with over six years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and levels on saxophone, clarinet, and flute. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Saxophone Performance from San José State University, where he studied under Dr. Michael Hernandez.
Alongside his teaching, Joshua is an active performer with extensive chamber music experience. He has trained with ensembles such as the Rascher Quartet, Catalyst Quartet, and Mana Quartet, earned 1st Place in the Chamber Music Division of the Charleston and Kingspeak International Music Competitions, and performed at the Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium.
Joshua is known for creating a supportive and encouraging learning environment, helping students build strong fundamentals, effective practice habits, and confidence. His clear, visual teaching methods are especially effective for young beginners, and many of his students have gone on to perform in ensembles including the San José Youth Symphony and California Youth Symphony. He also teaches beginner brass students through his training in the Claude Gordon System.
